The FIA European Rally Championship is held throughout Europe and organized by the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA). The championship has been running since 1953, and is a multi surface championship alternating between rallies on asphalt and gravel. It is the oldest multi national rally championship in the world and in 2013 it merged with the Intercontinental Rally Challenge.
