WRC 2022

The WRC 2022 represents a large change in regulations. The highly successfull RC1 class, commonly refered to as WRC class, has now been replaced by Rally1 at the top of the Rally Pyramid.

This is the cumulation of the complete overhaul of the rally pyramid announced by the FIA in 2019.

At the top of the pyramid, Rally1 describes elite level of driver aptitude and car performance in the World Rally Championship (WRC). At the foot of the pyramid is Rally5, designed for cost effective introductory rallying competition.

The aim of the new pryramid to use the common nomenclature and structure of the international championships and car classes used across the sport in a similar way to terminology used in formula racing and provide a clear path of progression through the ranks.

In 2022 there are 13 rounds at the top level, with the support categories using the same stages as the leading crews but not all rounds.
